The 2001 Race - Moments and Photos

It was a relatively quiet start for the 2001 event on June 14th. A southeasterly wind meant spinnakers were the order of the day for the first leg from Port Credit to Oakville.

There are always a few spectacular moments, particularly at sunrise and, in this case, at sunset.

The folks on "WinDriven", the winner of the 2001 Challenge in the Fully Crewed Fleet, had two long beats, one on the way to Main Duck Island and another on the way back. See their course plot.

The wind did pick up - as it usually does - for a portion of this year's race.
