The 2002 Race - Moments and Photos

Getting ready! Last minute adjustments to the rigging and equipment are the norm for most yachts...

...Moving slowly away from the starting line.

And the wind kept dropping...

So the race was off to a very slow start.

The Race Committee was a little concerned, but at least the yachts are underway. It's a long race and anything can happen!

 

Of course all that changed over the following 24 hours, with the conditions heating up on the way to Main Duck Island. Many yachts retired from the race during Friday and Saturday, with just 9 of the 33 starters completing the race.

 

The crew on La Follie d'Eau did an admirable job of keeping up their spirits during what proved to be a very challenging race...
