The 2005 Challenge Participants
Fully Crewed White Sails Fleet

Carolyn Archibald

Hughes Columbia 8.7
Port Credit Yacht Club
Crew: Kim Everest and Bruce Everest

  • This is our crew's first time in the Solmar Lake Ontario 300 and we are all looking forward to a lot of fun, fine winds and good sailing.
  • As experienced cruisers, but not racers, we'll be happy to be among the boats finishing the course with lots of stories to share over the cocktail hour.
  • Look forward to seeing you there!

    Crew:

    Jim Holton
    Head Office
    Grampian 28
    Toronto Hydroplane and Sailing Club
Crew: Tony Cahill, Kerry Cahill, Tom Kara

  • This is the same battle savvy crew that completed last years full crew with Spinnaker aboard Tony Cahill's Chinook 2 last year. We were originally set to take Tom Kara's boat but due to time constraints we made the last minute shift to Head Office and the Shorter Course.
  • We had a blast last year and hope for good wind and a great sail.
  • We look forward to seeing you out there.

  • Tor Johansson
    Comfort
    Cayenne 41 TR
    Oakville Yacht Squadron
Crew: Pieter Vos, Gary Hill, Lennart Baum, Oskar Johansson

  • This year we sail with the 20 year reunion crew that was part of the Comfort racing success going back to 1985. We probably look a little older in 2005 but we have a lot of experience on deck. We look forward to our reunion sail. Pieter Vos alternate skipper and mainsail, Gary Hill on winches, Lennart Baum on Navigation, Oskar Johansson alternate Genoa and Main, Tor Johansson skipper and boat speed.

  • Paul Lanzarini
    Amore
    Dullia 36
    Cathedral Bluffs Yacht Club
    Crew:

    Eric Lawlor
    Layalee
    CS 33
    Whitby Yacht Club
Crew: Jane-Anne Milligan, Darlene Hutton, Tom Hutton

  • Layalee is back for her third LO 300 and we are looking forward to another great time. It is Eric’s turn to be skipper in 2005 and will be joined by the even years skipper, Jane-Anne (we are a brother/sister team) and new crewmembers Darlene and Tom Hutton. We all sail out of the Whitby Yacht Club
  • Hopefully our new crew can help us round the Youngstown mark a little better. It has been our nemesis in the past.
  • Nothing on Lake Ontario can match this race. All you have to do is look at the photo gallery of previous races to get an idea.
  • Hearty thanks to the sponsors, organizers, and race committee and good luck to all the competitors and sail safely.

  • Mario Perez

Crew: Corinne Cairns, Jennifer Zimmerman, Pedro Oliveira, Jose Varela

    Lollygag

    Etobicoke Yacht Club
Crew: Hans Nita, Bill Wright and Oliver Fuchs

    Patricia Whetung
    One More Time
    C&C 27 Mark III
    Queen City Yacht Club
Crew: Carolyn Murray, Dianne Taylor, Margaret Anne Walker

  • I've been skipping my own boat only 5 years and but last year the boat did 65 races around the lake.
  • ONE MORE TIME won the 2003 LORC white sail division and a few other club and interclub race/regattas.
  • Competed in the NOOD - placed 3rd overall PHRF 1V division....
  • Placed 2nd at the 2004 C&C Owners' Regatta
  • BUT for the 300 we have new crew: Carolyn Murray, M.A. Walker, Dianne Taylor. Ah yes, an all female crew from QCYC !
  • Despite the fact that One More Time looks to be the smallest boat entered …the four of us have owned and skipped our own boats with Dianne and Pat competing in club races and races around the lake.
  • This skip has a biological clock ticking (no, not the baby thing!) and wants to garner as much boat experience as possible as I have come late to the wonderful world of sailing. Carolyn, on the other hand, a familiar face to most of you, has spent most of her life on and around boats and boaters. You will find Dianne and M.A. highly skilled and tremendously willing to take on new experiences.
  • For first timers, we find the white sail course is enough of a challenge and yet not overwhelming. For this we are grateful.
  • We owe a huge thanks to single-hand racers Peter Broecker and Wayne Lilley who have given encouragement, advice, equipment and time. And to Buffy MacPhail who has generously loaned survival and safety equipment….and to Paul Horne who has devoted ALL his personal time for the past weeks to prep the boat.
  • We are looking forward to a safe, challenging long distance race - our first but perhaps not our last!
