Rick Sellens Dragon III Hughes 35 Kingston Yacht Club Co-skipper: Laura Tattersall
Dragon III was cruised gently for most of her years and never saw a spinnaker until 2004.
2004 was a fun year of club racing and local events. (That's us dousing the red, black and white approaching the leeward mark at EYC.)
2005 took us up the Lakes for a circumnavigation of Manitoulin Island and a very enjoyable time at the Georgian Bay Sailing Regatta. The delivery trip included beating double handed into 25 knots plus most of the way from Kingston to Port Dalhousie, which seemed like good prep for the LO 300.

Joe Torzsok
Dreamcatcher
Catalina 34
Etobicoke Yacht Club
Co-skipper: Jamie Sifton
This is Joe Torzsok's first time entering the Lake Ontario 300. This is actually his first season sailing!
Jamie Sifton has been sailing in Canada and internationally for more than 40 years since he was enrolled in a junior racing program at the Brockville (ON) Sailing Club when he was 12. He, his wife Suzanne and then 4 year-old daughter Tiffany sailed a Westsail 32 to the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos in 1979, lived aboard for two years and returned to Georgian Bay in the summer of 1981.
Both Jamie and Joe have decided to add an extra twist to this race for a good cause. They have asked their friends and family to sponsor them - with all donations going to the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario. In addition, Joe's employer - TELUS Business Solutions will match any donations dollar for dollar up to $5000 so with any luck, Joe and Jamie will be able to bring the joy of sailing to a number of people who would otherwise not be able to participate.

Michael Judd Heart Breaker S2 9.1 Bronte Harbour Yacht Club Co-skipper: Ed Tait
Last year Ed and I sailed in the LO 300 for the first time. We found both the weather and the competition to be quite a challenge, a challenge that we enjoyed that is. We look forward to this years race and competition, and for the chance to use what we learned from last years race.
Hey! if there are any other S2 9.1's in the area - come on out "I DARE YOU!"

Co-skipper: Errol Kokbas
This is the first time we will be attempting the Solmar LO 300. Our first
challenge will be the trip from Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario and I am sure
we will have many memorable moments if we make it from start line to finish.
Looking forward to this Father-Son event.

John McLeod
Hot Water
J 133
Royal Canadian Yacht Club
Co-skipper: David Doyle
Hot Water's predecessor (the J105 of the same name) completed the LO 300 in 2004 and 2005. The new J133 Hot Water (bigger, bolder) has in the past year completed a number of offshore races including Newport to Bermuda, Ft Lauderdale to Key West and the Pineapple Cup (Ft Lauderdale to Montego Bay)
John is looking forward to continued offshore successes with Hot Water now that she is in her home waters
David returns for his fourth LO300, most notably co-skippering Clockwork to double-handed victory (1st to finish, 1st corrected) in 2004 and 1st in fleet way back in 1991 aboard the J35 Man O'War

John Hagen Les C&C 35 MkIII Etobicoke Yacht Club Co-skipper: Gerry Dogherty
Gerry Doherty and myself have done Lake Ontario 300 race eight times. This truly is one of the greatest sailing events on Lake Ontario and the race gets better and better every year. When there is no wind, those flies are waiting for us to bite our ankles. Every race, we always have discussions on the best way to avoid lightning storms in the middle of the night, but have yet to establish a reliable method. We look forward to another exciting race this year.

Len Alksnis Trimpus CS 30 Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club
Co-Skipper: Chris Reil
Trimpus has been racing on Lake Ontario since 1985. This will be her 11th Solmar Lake Ontario 300. Since the first entered by us in 1991, all but
2003 have been double handed. Our best finish was first overall in the double-handed fleet in 2000. That year we also beat all but two of the fully crewed boats.
We took 1998 off from the 300 to charter Blade for the Chicago-Mackinac Race and in 2004 took Trimpus to Lake Huron for the Bayview-Mackinac Race and the Mackinac-Manitoulin International Yacht Race which we won overall. These two races are worth the effort required to get a boat and crew to Lake Huron and the North Channel. Racing in the North Channel at night is a challenging experience.
Other race achievements for Trimpus include first overall in the 1997 Freeman Cup race, best PHRF boat overall in the 2003 CORK Offshore Regatta, 2003 Key West Race Week and 2003 Ft. Lauderdale-Key West Race (it helps to have Trimpus on a trailer) and numerous LORC, LYRA and Youngstown victories.
All of these races are different and great fun. The 300, however, has been the most fun of all over the years. Look forward to it again this year.
