The 2007 Challenge Participants
Fully Crewed White Sails Fleet

Bob Hickson
Airborne 2
Viking 28
Frenchmans Bay Yacht Club
Crew: Craig Castle, Ken Lauwerier, Mike Brett, Steven Hume

  • This will be the boats first attempt at the 300.
  • Several of us crewed on other boats in last years 300 and found it to be a great experience.
  • We are planning to use the white sail course as a shakedown for the boat in preparation for next years fully crewed flying sails division.

    Baby Blue
    C&C 33
    Mimico Cruising Club
Crew: Bob Hill, Terry Bayley and Tony Duarte

  • This is the second LO300 for part of our crew (Terry, Bob and John). We competed in the 2006 LO300 in fully crewed whites and placed 6 of 14 in our division aboard Silent Flight, a Hughes 35! We had a ton of fun and decided to do it again, but unfortunately, some of our crew from last year wasn't able to make it, so we've added Tony Duarte this year to help us improve upon our results from last year!  The yacht that we're using, Baby Blue - 1986 C&C 33, was graciously loaned to me by Swans Yacht Sales, where I am work as a Part Time Yacht Broker.

  • Mark Ashworth
    Black Magic
    CS 30
    Whitby Yacht Club
Crew: Allan Davies, Ron Castle, Armando Murgo

  • This is our second LO300 and we are looking forward to having some fun and good winds.

  • Frank Juhasz
    Bluestone
    Niagara 35
    Port Credit Yacht Club
Crew: Louis Juhasz, James Juhasz, Chris Landreville

  • This is our 2nd go at the LO 300. Louis is flying in once again from Vancouver to participate and this year we welcome Chris who joins the team.
  • We are excited to see another Niagara 35 in the field! Perhaps the makings of a great rivalry!! Any sponsors out there willing to put up for the Niagara's Cup?

  • Peter Wolniak
    Burnin' Rudder
    Gib'Sea 9.2 m
    AYC
    Crew:

  • This year we have a new kevlar jib and a #3 sail which should enhance our performance.
  • Thanks to Harsha, Wendy and Matt for hanging in there last year! With lessons learned we're pumped for this year's race.

  • Dave Moores
    California Girl
    Catalina 32
    Oakville Yacht Squadron
Crew: Kelly Aver, Kim barlow, Michon Williams, Barbara Spavins

  • This will be California Girl's 4th Lake Ontario 300.
  • This year is the ladies' turn (apart from the Skipper that is!) continuing our tradition of alternating between the guys (spinnaker) and the gals (white sail). Last year was "interesting" with either too much wind or not enough, but that's what it's all about. We are really looking forward to the new white-sail course.
  • We race at OYS two nights a week and the long-course racing is a real change of pace and annual big thrill.
  • Last year we took along two video-cameras and surprised ourselves by producing a watchable half-hour movie that has a bit of everyting, just like the race, and much enjoyed by fellow sailors.
  • We wish everyone fair winds and fine weather - for a change!"

  • Simon Hampson

    Crew:

    Fire Bird II
    C&C Redwing 30
    Whitby Yacht Club
Crew: Gary Bruder, Phil Bayer and John Crouse

  • This is Fire Bird II's first attempt at the 300. We thought we better go white sail this time. Gary and I participated last year and our stories have made our crew excited about this year.
  • Our goal is to finish. Winning is not everything but it would be nice.

  • Ian Robertson

    Crew:

    Peter Chalkley
    Keego II
    Hunter Legend 35
    Frenchmans Bay Yacht Club
    Crew: Steve Greenridge, John Redman

  • Last year was a great initiation in what the LO300 can offer.  This year we are determined to make it past our home port and sail into unknown waters!

  • John Quinlan
    Les Voiles
    Dufour 36
    Oakville Yacht Squadron
Crew: Kathy Quinlan, Derek Quinlan, Barb Quinlan, Lindsay Biernat and Robert Wagner

  • Les Voiles will compete for the second time in a long distance race. We didn’t get it done in our first try but the more than competent crew have been praying for wind and a fast track around the lake in this years race. It would be great to have all of our competitors close at hand and some fantastic racing out on the lake.
  •   The crew of family and friends will sail Les Voiles fast and safe and we hope to be in a position to welcome our fellow competitors back to PCYC on their arrival. Good luck and a fun and safe race to all.
  • Crew:
    - Kathy Quinlan, Tactician. Kathy will keep us on course and in the hunt out on the lake and well feed.
    - Derek Quinlan, Helmsman. Sailing the shortest course is his specialty and high winds his delight.
    - Barb Quinlan, Genoa trim. A true competitor who loves a challenge and the excitement that goes with it.
    - Lindsay Biernat, Genoa trim. A hundred pounds of pure dynamite who give a 110% on every tack.
    - Robert Wagner, Mainsail. A proven racer on some of the best boats on Lake Ontario. Rob helped Radiance win the LO300 in 2004 & 2005. Rob is back to run the main and hopes to add the Little 300 to his racing resume.
